News from the Greater New Orleans Chapter:

We will soon be embarking on a New Year for our Occupational Health Group with the following new officers, who were installed at a fabulous restaurant - the 555 at the New Orleans Marriott. (May 2010)  A special meal was prepared specially for us, just another perk in having our very own Marriott - Occ Health Nurse. We are looking forward in having both a fun and productive year, with the hope of expanding our membership and further advancing our professions in our work place.  If you are planning a visit to the Greater New Orleans area, please consider attending our meetings or look us up.  We meet on the 2nd Tues of the month at approx 5:30pm, and rotate to different sites.

Recap of this past year:

We held several informative meetings with special guest speakers that covered a variety of topics - congenital & traumatic conditions of the hands, visited the Tulane Primate Center (too cool), Updates form the Health Dept on H1N1, and learned about Psychological Risk Factors for Poor Outcomes.  One of our highlights was our special meal prepared by the famous Chef Matt Murphy at the Ritz Carlton and to hear his amazing story on his illness ( a true miracle).  We also adopted a family at Christmas time and made their Christmas a little more special.
